Golden NS – Carmel O’Donnell

Carmel is a native of Athassel Abbey in Golden and still resides in the original family home. Carmel gave us a very important insight in local history, particularly in regard to her own townsland, which obviously included the famous Athassel Priory. Her memories of life on a self-sufficient prospering farm were also very thought-provoking. Carmel spent a large portion of her life in Golden N.S., as pupil in the 60s before returning as teacher in the 70s until her retirement in 2007.
